Back To School Traditions

I thought it would be fun a few back to school traditions that we have started over the last couple of years since the kids have started Mother’s Day Out and now Pre-School.   I always love seeing other peoples back-to-school photos and how they send their kiddos off on the first day.  Here’s a look at ours….

Backpacks + Lunchboxes

We have had these PBKids backpacks and lunch boxes for two years now.  They have held up great and the kids still love them.  This year the lunchboxes were looking a little dirty and I threw them in a bath tub of warm water with about 4 scoops of oxiclean and let them soak for 24 hours.  They came out looking like new and we were all happy 🙂

Back To School Photos

I love snapping photos of the kids on the first day of school.  Last year, we started these little felt letter boards that I’m really loving. I have so much fun comparing the photos from year to year and then also just from the first day of school and last day of school.  They are so fun to look back on.

Lunches

I dread packing lunches everyday just like most other Mamas.  I really don’t have a perfect method down to make my life easier yet.   I don’t pre-pack even though I always think its a good idea.  I end up making them each morning right before school.  Last year, we did fall in love with these bento boxes and I bought multiple for each kid.  I did a post last year on some of our favorite lunch ideas.  The truth is, these fun lunches last the first couple of weeks and then it all goes downhill from there!  My son is super picky and my daughter really isn’t, so I do my best to make it decent for both. You can read the post here.

Name Labels

Schools always want everything labeled so I ordered the sweetest little labels from Minted to use for the kids sippy cups and bottles and the small ones are labels for clothes.  I was also in need of some new thank you note cards for her and I love the way these turned out.

Back to School Breakfast

This is a new tradition I would love to start with the kiddos now that they are just a little older.  I found this cute apple banner in the $1 aisle of Target and saw these cute printables online that I thought I could put together for a doughnut or pancake breakfast.  I haven’t decided which one yet. The kids don’t have to be to school until 9am, so I feel like we have enough time to have a breakfast that will get them excited for their first day.

Back to School Shopping

We did some back to school shopping this year for the first time at our local mall and had a blast. We made a day of it and had lunch in the food court, rode these crazy little automatic fuzzy animals that they had, shopped at a few stores and finished up with a special treat of Dip N Dots.  The kids actually loved it and then came home and did a runway show for me with all their new clothes. Look at those faces 😂

What type of back to school traditions have you started??

We start school next Wednesday and I can’t wait 🙂
