Our Christmas 2017

What a fun month it’s been!!  I can’t believe we are closing out 2017 and wrapping up a month full of parties, gifting, magic, and a few tantrums in between!   This post is super heavy in pictures, but I wanted to save all of our memories from the holiday.

We started the holiday weekend on Saturday the 23rd and headed to meet my hubby’s family for a holiday lunch.  The kids had a blast seeing lots of cousins and eating tons of good food.

On the evening of the 23rd, we have a tradition to go out to eat with my family (just the adults).  Some years, we are not all in town, but when we are, it’s so much fun to kick things off at a festive dinner.

I wore one of my favorite dresses from last year that I still love!

On Christmas Eve, we headed to church at 4:30pm for mass and then we all went to my brother and SIL’s house for an early dinner.   This year we had a big surprise for the kids and Santa Clause walked through the front door with a sack of toys.  They each got to open a gift on Christmas Eve which I loved because that was always a tradition when we were kids.

We were home a little before 8pm and it was time for the elves to get to work!!  All the wrapping was done ahead of time, but Matt loves to wait until Christmas Eve night to put together any toys we have for the kids.  Its a fun tradition where we either turn on a Christmas movie or music and get excited for the big day!

We’ve decided with young kids that it is easiest to have the toys from Santa unwrapped and put together in front of the tree.  So that has become a tradition for us over the last several years.   It really is fun to watch the kids run down the stairs and get crazy excited to see all these big gifts ready for them to jump on.

Brody went nuts for his Batbot that he was dying for! Madelyn headed straight for her Doc McStuffins cart and then to see if there was a baby in her new doll pram.

After the kids ran downstairs Christmas morning and started tearing into all of their gifts, I started prepping Christmas breakfast.  I prepped everything ahead of time, so all I had to do was throw it in the oven.

We made Sister Shuberts frozen cinnamon rolls that were so delicious and easy to make.  I made an egg and grits casserole to go along with it too.  We had tons of food and everyone was happy!

The last gift the kids opened was to both of them and it had a stuffed Mickey and Minnie Mouse in the box along with this sign telling them they were going to Disney World!!!  We leave the first week in January and we can’t wait!!

Madelyn and I both got new bikes for Christmas!

After all the gifts were unwrapped, it was time for some clean up and prepping for family to come over.   We had my Mom, Brother, SIL, and her family all come over for an early 3pm dinner.  We changed out of our PJ’s, had a blast exchanging gifts with them, and popped the champagne!

We wrapped things up with my family around 6pm and then we welcomed Matt’s family into the house!!  It was a wild Christmas full of lots of activist, but we loved every second of it!

We visited, exchanged more gifts with them, and ate dessert!

We celebrated my sweet niece who just got engaged a week prior on a trip to Las Vegas.  How cute are they??

And this photo of Matt and I pretty much sums up the day! Matt’s purple teeth were killing me!!

What a weekend!! We have been recuperating all week and slowly getting back into the swing of things.  We are shipping the kids to grandma’s house tomorrow night too to close out the year with one more party at our house!!! We will be ringing in the new year with friends at our house.
