This past week we decided to have a little staycation on our own Pensacola Beach. Brody was in Innerlight Surf Camp for the week out at the beach with one of his buddies and we decided it would be fun to hang their for a few days and Matt would be able to commute to work. We have never rented or even stayed at a hotel out on Pensacola Beach in our married life, so this was new to us and ended up being a ton of fun!
We rented a 3 bedroom unit at The Beach Club Condos which is right on the Gulf of Mexico and we absolutely loved our stay. The condo has an indoor pool, outdoor pool and a first class gymnasium. We had complimentary set of beach chairs and umbrella for each day of our stay and our unit was so pretty with a huge balcony that overlooked the pool and the Gulf.
We checked into the condo on Wednesday afternoon and settled into the condo. Since this condo is only 20 minutes from our house, there was part of me that was trying to keep it simple in the packing department and didn’t pack enough because I forget how you literally need to bring EVERYTHING you need to cook or clean with in the kitchen. We cooked in every meal except for one evening we grabbed Flounder’s To Go. The condo had a grill on the balcony which was awesome! We grilled chicken, steaks and hamburgers and hotdogs.
We had our friends stay with us the first part of the trip and then Matt’s family came in town for the weekend and moved into the condo for us. The 3 bedroom fit two families nicely. They had a large walk in closet in our master bedroom that we were able to put Molly’s Pack N play in and then they had a pull out couch in the family room that the kids slept on. We were all really pleased with how spacious it was and we loved that it had 3 bathrooms and a washer and dryer too.
On Thursday, Matt went in for work and my Mom came out to join us at the condo for the day. The kids just wanted to swim in the pools, so we hung out and enjoyed being poolside. Later that afternoon, our friends were coming in town and we went down to a small beach on the bay side to go tubing. We celebrated Harry’s birthday and the kids all got to tube behind the boat. My kids had never done it before and I loved watching them. I think it was a little rough for the girls, but the boys loved it!
Friday morning the boys had their last day of Surf Camp and the rest of us hit the beach! We had beautiful sunshine and the water was finally clearing up from all the rain we have had.
Saturday was another beautiful beach day! Matt’s family made it to town on Friday and we were loving hanging on the beach with them.
We watched all the people out at night time hunting sand crabs off of our balcony and the kids were excited to go. My SIL and niece took them down there and they thought it was the coolest thing ever! They caught 10 crabs. These head lights are from Amazon that I bought at the beginning of summer for our trip to Rosemary to go crabbing.
On our last night, we picked up Flounder’s to-go and had dinner on our back porch. It was a perfect finale to our long weekend. We were truly sad to pack up and leave. The views were gorgeous and it was a perfectly calm day on the day we left!
We had so much enjoying our own backyard this week! I get a lot of questions about Pensacola on instagram from you guys and this trip has motivated me to finish my Pensacola Travel Guide that I have started. So hopefully I will get that out soon!
