Scenes From Our Weekend

This weekend was pretty slow, but needed I guess.  We spent most of last week taking it easy because Madelyn came home from our trip with a cold.  It was nice to try and enjoy the last week at home before the kids started back school this week.

Brody started his very first sport this week…soccer!  He had his first soccer practice and it was pretty exciting.  I had to make sure he looked the part, so he could play the part!  We ordered some soccer shorts from Amazon along with some new socks, shin guards and shoes!  He was looking pretty styling.  And he wore a t-shirt, not a polo to practice 🙂

How cute is this little video at his first practice???

On Friday, we had our monthly girls lunch at Jacksons.  It’s always so much fun to catch up and they give free martini’s at lunch, so it makes it that much better 🙂

Matt was out of town Friday night on a work trip and Brody spent the night at his Grammy’s house.  That meant it was just me and Madelyn for the night.  We met up with my Mom for an early dinner at the Country Club and she actually did great. I think she liked getting all the attention.

Saturday was slow moving.  Matt picked up Brody from his Mom’s house on his way back into town.  We just hung out most of the morning, grabbed a bite out for lunch and after naps; we decided to try a movie.  It was so darn hot outside, we couldn’t come up with anything better.

We went to see the Nut Job 2.  We took two cars knowing that Madelyn would not make it through the entire movie.  She made it through about 1 hour of it stuffing her face with M&M’s and Smoothie “icee”.  We will try again when she is 3!

Sunday morning we headed out for breakfast and made the decision to try the beach.

We went out to the beach for a few hours before lunch.  It was hot as hell.  It was pretty and the water was calm which is always nice with the kids.  We liked it, but the jelly fish were out and kept stinging us.  The doggie pool came in handy, but we only lasted a couple of hours at the beach.

On our way home, we hit up the new Jimmy Johns close to our house.  I recently had learned that Jimmy John’s will make any of their sandwiches as a lettuce wrap.  They call it the “unwich.”  This was the first time I’ve had it and I was so impressed.  They do a really good job of tightly wrapping the sandwich in lettuce and it tasted great! I love the Club Lulu (turkey and bacon) or the Beach (turkey and avocado).

I hope everyone has a great week.  The kids start school on Wednesday.  We met their teachers yesterday which was so fun.  I can’t wait for Wednesday to be here 🙂
