Scenes from our Weekend | Aspen

We spent the last week in Aspen for a very special occasion.  Aspen was a special place to my Dad who had spent at least one week a year there for over 30 years before he passed in January.   He had an annual guys trip every year for a week in December with some guys from college, some from work, and over the last 10 years or so my brothers were included.  It was always a week they looked forward to as we come from a family that LOVES skiing.   You may remember from this post back in May that my Dad wanted his ashes in two places: Destin and Aspen.  We spread his ashes in Destin over Memorial weekend and we spread the rest of the ashes this week on Aspen mountain.  It was an emotional mini-ceremony that we had for him on the mountain with family and a few of his friends that always went with him on his weekly guy’s trip.  We felt blessed to “ski” with him one last time on Aspen mountain and reminisce on plenty of stories about his many trips to the mountains.

I’m so happy that we brought Brody with us because he truly had a blast.  He loved the cooler weather and the snow and we loved watching him explore and do lots of new things.  I can’t wait to get this kids on skis soon!

Please excuse my dirty bed head and no make-up 🙂

We took Brody sledding and built a snowman.  There was a lack of snow at the Aspen recreation center that we took him too, but it was still fun.

We celebrated my brothers birthday while we were there which is always fun.  We had a great balance of time with Brody and adult time.  We actually got babysitters out there which was the first time he has really stayed with anyone besides family members.  He did great and so did we 🙂
