Scenes From Our Weekend | New Orleans

Matt and I spent the weekend in New Orleans visiting family and attending Matt’s first NOLA Mardi Gras Ball.  We’ve known about this weekend for awhile, but we had so much travel on the books; we really didn’t think we were going to make it.

A couple weeks prior, we decided we needed to make it happen and I’m so glad we did!! It was a blast!!

I let the kids stay home from school Friday morning and we had some chill time and did some fun Valentine’s crafts.  Madelyn and I hung in our new matching Lake heart jammies.  They are just the best.

We got in Friday night just in time for the King’s cocktail party at my Uncles House.  It was super nice and pretty low-key.  We were excited to get into town and see all of our family.  After the party was over, a few of us went out for drinks at Bouligny Tavern.

Saturday morning was pretty chill.  Matt and I got up and had breakfast at Surrey’s on Magazine street.  We shopped at Perlis, grabbed coffee and then met our friends at Company Burger to get some snuggles with this cutie!!!   I was so sad not to have Molly with me for them to play, but they will have even more fun together in just a few months!

Saturday night was the big ball!  I rented this Gold Sequin Dress from Rent the Runway and it turned out great.  All the girls got our hair done early that afternoon and I went for the big loose braid up front.  It turned out cute.

The ball was really amazing.  They had the most gorgeous tent set up in front of the New Orleans Country Club.  They did the entire ball presentation in the tent which is where they introduced my Uncle as King.  All the women sit down in chairs and the men all have to stand.  If you are in the front row, you have to wear these full length Opera White gloves like I am wearing.  Most of the women have nice, expensive white leather gloves because they use them year after year.  Mine are $8 off Amazon.  The men also have to wear Tails, not just tuxedos.

We had dinner before the Ball at Gautreux’s.  After the ball presentation, we walked into the Country Club and they had an amazing band from Atlanta, everyone dances and they serve an amazing “Kings Supper” which is really a big breakfast buffet.  It was such a fun experience.

Matt’s highlight was that he got to meet Cooper Manning 🙂

New Orleans is always a great time!! I always love going back.  Next time, we have to bring the kids because they love it too.
