Scenes From Our Weekend | Kentucky Derby

We have been on the road a lot, so it felt great to have a weekend at home.  We celebrated Cinco de Mayo on Friday with mango margaritas, guacamole, and shrimp tacos.

I love me some Mexican.  I’ll use any excuse to eat it.  I was craving a good shrimp taco on Friday, so I searched for recipes online and found the one linked above.  I loved the amount of spice to it!  I thought the tacos were heavenly.

Saturday morning we built forts in the family room with couch cushions and then got ourselves dressed for breakfast.  We ran a few errands and had planned to get Brody’s haircut, but he went bat-shit crazy.  He is the WORST when it comes to haircuts. It’s so ridiculous.  Does anyone else have this problem??

Saturday afternoon we dressed up and went to a party.  We were supposed to make it to a couple, but only hit one.  We ate crawfish and watched the Kentucky Derby.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day.

Sunday we cooked breakfast at home and the kids woke up dying to go swimming or out on the boat.  It was a perfect boat day, so we got dressed and packed everything up to go.  We went and loaded up the boat with everything just to find out that the steering wheel was locked up and we couldn’t take the boat out.   We were so sad!

We played for a bit, took the kids home for naps and then made a family trip to the grocery store to pick up some dinner.  Matt made some blue cheese stuffed filets that were dynamite.  It was a great weekend and I was pretty happy to kiss last week goodbye.  I’m hoping to start this week on a new leaf.

Today is my Dad’s birthday.  He would have been 64.  We lost him three years ago which is hard to believe.  One of his favorite things was to get a massage, so I will be having one in his honor today 🙂

xoxo, Annie

  1. Happy birthday to your Dad! I’m so sorry you lost him fairly young. 🙁 I think that’s great you’re celebrating him doing one of his favorite things. Hugs to you on a day that is surely tougher than most. xo

Glad you will get that massage today. Your Dad would have been so glad you did! Sorry about the boat – that sucks. You’ve had a week!!! Ugh! I hope this week settles down and is better! What’s the scoop on M’s adorable white flops with the pineapple?! Molly Anne may need those! 😉

The perfect way for you to spend this day <3 Sending you big hugs friend. Greyson is the same with haircuts, and I fought all weekend with him about it. The hardest part is finding anyone in a salon that is patient enough to deal with him. How do you do it?

  5. Looks like you guys had a great weekend! I didn’t know taco-holders were a thing! I need them now. We don’t need a holiday as an excuse to eat Mexican, it’s pretty much taco night 3 nights a week in our house!
