Scenes From Our Weekend | Mississippi

This weekend was just me and the kiddos left to our own devices!! My hubby was in the Bahamas on a work trip #roughlife!  So we made plans to go visit friends over in Mississippi.   It is only a little over 2 hours away and it’s just a fun escape with the kids.  They have a pool, golf cart, and a pier with lots of crab traps which is probably Brody’s favorite thing!!  We arrived a little after lunch on Friday and met up with my friend Meredith and her son Brooks.   He is just 6 months younger than Madelyn and couldn’t be cuter!!

We swam, played on the golf cart and ate dinner at the house!  Mere and I made sure to wear them out during the day so we could get them in bed early!! It was so nice to have a little time at night to ourselves to catch up without kiddos around!

Mere took the kids for doughnuts each morning which were incredible.   We made a quick trip to the beach and did some more swimming in the pool.   Another friend came by to swim with her two kids for a little bit and they all had a blast together!

Saturday night we put the little babies down for the night and got a babysitter!! We just wanted to be able to get out for a bit.  We had plans to stop by a friends house for a quick drink and then head out to dinner.  It turned out that as soon as we made it to our friends house, it started pouring down rain!! Needless to say, we ended up staying there for dinner too.  It was so fun!! They made FROSE aka frozen rose.  They were so delicious.  All she did was put a bottle of rose in a Tupperware and freeze it.  After it’s frozen, stick it in a blender with two teaspoons of simple syrup and serve!! So easy and so delicious.  I will definitely be making it at home.  They also served this delicious grilled honey Sirachi corn.  I loved the sweet and spiciness of it.

Sunday we packed up the kids to go home.  On our way home, we stopped in Ocean Springs, MS.  Matt and I used to live here for two years before we got married.  These two girls and their husbands were our best friends! We all lived within a mile of each other, none of us had kids, and we used to have the BEST time!   Fast forward 5 years (insert tear) since we moved away, and now we have 6 kids amongst us!  We haven’t had a chance to have all of our kids together before and it was so fun to do it on Sunday.  The kids had the best time and we had fun getting to catch up.

Getting a picture of all of us is no easy feat, but we had a blast!! It was such a fun weekending catching up with old friends and watching this next generation of little ones 🙂
