Back to School Preparations

We are gearing up for Back to School in our household as the two girls start next Wednesday and then Brody will be headed to First Grade the following week.  All the kids are going to their normal schools even though they will both look a little different this year.  It feels a little weird, but I am trying to keep this time approaching their return as normal as possible.  Here is what we have done so far!

Back to School Clothes

We started doing some of their back to school clothing and shoe shopping to get ready for school.  I shared some of our favorite clothes from the Walmart Uniform section in a post a couple of weeks ago along with some great back pack and lunch box options.  They have some great affordable items for the kids that mix and match well.

Back to School Supplies

We ordered Brody’s back to school supplies online through Walmart.  They make it super easy.  You can head right to this page and type in the name of your school and the supply list will come up.  I hit the button “add all items to shopping cart” and then scheduled it for a pick up at our local Walmart.  They make it so easy for a non-contact delivery right to your car.  Of course you can always order it online and have it delivered as well!

Back to School Lunches

I also decided it was time to start thinking about what life is going to look like when I have to start packing 3 lunch boxes again for school.  Packing lunches is definitely not one of my favorite things to do, but each year I try to buy a few little things to try to make it more fun for me and the kids to start off the school year!  Here are a few of our favorite things.

Sadly (or maybe not so much), Brody (age 7) is so happy to just have a lunch box full of snacks and a sandwich and forgo the bento box.  For the two girls, I would say it is still easiest to pack them in the bento boxes.  I always start off the school year looking like these examples below, but then all creativity and enthusiasm is out the door by week 3.  But I have tried to load up on some good food and lunch box snacks from Walmart as well to gear up for the school year.

Back to School Questions

I love this little tradition with the kids.  You can video them answering these questions or just ask them the questions and write down their answers.  It is cute to look back on each of the kids.  You can obviously ask any of them, but here are the ones we use:

Questions:

Whats your name?
How do you spell it?
How old are you?
Whats your favorite food?
Whats your favorite toy?
Whats your favorite thing to do for fun?
Whats your favorite color?
What do you love the most?
What are you most excited about doing on your first day of school?
Whats your teachers name?

The countdown is on and we are looking forward to getting back to some routine in our house!

Thank you to Walmart for partnering with my family on this post and to my readers for supporting my blog. All products, purchases and reviews are of my own.
