I took a long weekend in April to travel to Captiva (island outside of Ft. Meyers, Florida) for a fun girls weekend. I had been here one time before back in 2009 for a couple of days to visit a friend, but it had been a long time ago.
I flew into St. Pete where my friend Kalyn (the bachelorette) lived on Thursday evening and spent the night with her and then we hopped in the car and drove about 3 hours down to Captiva for her bachelorette weekend! We stayed at the South Seas Resort which is the main large resort on the island from what I can tell. It has several different pool areas, restaurants, outdoor activities, a nice beach and its a golf cart community.
We got to Captiva on Friday around lunch time and headed straight to the pool for cocktails and relaxation!
The pool area was really nice. It is definitely a very family-friendly resort with quite a bit of kids around.
We went and got settled in our condo after the pool and showered and took wine to have a little happy hour at the beach with the most gorgeous sunset. Our plans for the night were to just pick up pizza and eat at the condo and have a little lingerie shower for the bachelorette. We picked up pizza from Scoops & Slices on property.
Saturday was our one full day and we rented a private cabana by the pool which was really nice. We had our own waiter and our own space which made it really nice.
That evening we went to the famous Mucky Duck for drinks and to watch another gorgeous sunset. The sunsets are so pretty down here. The Mucky Duck is just a casual beach style restaurant with picnic tables.
We had dinner that night at the Bubble Room. This is another casual, eclectic little spot. I think all of our food was so-so and I think they are known for their dessert and funky atmosphere!
Sunday we pretty much just woke up and checked out and had to drive back to St. Pete.
Our time in Captiva was so quick. Some other fun things to do down there is to rent a boat for the day and go exploring the waters around you. There are also several other restaurants on the island that we didn’t get to check out. The Sunshine Seafood looked cute and I heard the Green Flash is good too!
On Sunday before I flew out of Tampa, we got to stop at the Vinoy in St. Pete and I got to see my college bestie who lives in St. Pete!
