I haven’t done one of these day in the life posts in awhile and I wanted to make sure I captured one before school let out for Summer. This is the first year that both kids have been in school together and even though I’m excited for Summer, I love the routine that school provides. Brody will be 4 in June and Madelyn is 20 months.
Here is a look at our Monday (May 22nd) during the last week of school:
6:45am Brody comes into our room after he wakes up and crawls in our bed.
7am Madelyn comes in next. They have both been waking up closer to 630am lately, so this was actually pretty nice. We all snuggle in the bed for a little bit. Matt turns on Mickey Mouse for a few minutes while I can hop in the shower and get dressed for the day.
730am We all head downstairs and start breakfast. I eat a piece of this leftover breakfast casserole from the weekend and the kids have fruit and a blueberry muffin. I make the kids lunches and have them ready. Matt comes downstairs and is ready for work. He watches a couple minutes of Pooh Bear with the kids, kisses everyone goodbye and heads out the door.
8am My Mom surprises us and walks through the door. She’s coming to visit and drop the kids off for school for me! We visit for a few minutes and I send her with the kids, their lunches, and a carton full of American Cookie Co. cookies to take to Brody’s classroom. They are celebrating summer birthday’s the last week of school since they won’t be together for his actual birthday.
845am They leave for school. I unload the dishwasher, pick up the house (toys everywhere), and sort through some mail. I spend the next two hours doing some work at my desk. I pay my car insurance, send a few birthday cards and thankfully look over my credit card bill. We were accidentally charged twice by our resort in the Bahamas, so I spend about 45 minutes on the phone with them! This is when I normally would try to squeeze my exercise in, but it’s not happening today.
11am I head to the nail salon to get a pedicure and manicure before my trip. I decided to get dip nails again and I’m really happy with them so far. The color is Prickly Pink.
1245pm I get out just in time to run to the drugstore and get a Thank You card for Madelyn’s teachers for school. I throw in some gift cards for a really un-original end of the year gift. For Brody’s class, we did a joint gift and I had already taken care of that thankfully.
1pm School pick up. I never had a chance to eat lunch earlier, so I get the kids in the car and we head to the Chick-fil-a drive through. I love the grilled chicken sandwich and ask for their honey BBQ sauce. As we were heading out the doors at school, some friends from school told us they were headed to the park for a little bit. So we grab some chicken nuggets and then head to the park for a little bit with school friends.
215pm We get home a lot later than normal from school, but I go ahead and put Madelyn down for a nap still. Usually we are home for me to put her down about 130pm. Brody still naps about 60% of the time, but I decide not to put him down today because it’s so late.
230pm Brody wants to watch Moana, so I let him snuggle up on the couch for a bit. I watch with him for a few minutes, but then I run to my room to get some packing done for my trip. Brody comes up to help me after a little while.
5pm Madelyn sleeps later than I should have let her, but she was exhausted. She usually naps from about 130-330, so 5pm is really late. Both kids want a snack and then to go outside and play.
515pm We swing outside, take a walk outside to see all the boats, chat outside with our new neighbors that are doing some renovations and then get home to get ready for dinner.
6pm I make dinner for the kids. Grilled cheese and fruit for Madelyn and chicken nuggets and fruit for Brody.
630pm Madelyn is starting to get whiney, so I put both kids in the bath tub. Matt calls and says he’s going to be a little later than normal because he has to stop by his Dad’s place to help him. I let him know that I had nothing for dinner tonight and we were going to have to grab something to-go. We call in an order from Union Public House (a local restaurant) and Matt picks it up on his way home.
715pm The kids are in their jammies and then Daddy walks through the door. We eat a quick dinner and watch a little bit of Trolls and play with the kids. I tidy up the kitchen a little bit before we go to bed.
8pm We all head up to bed. I read and lay down with Brody and Matt puts Madelyn to bed.
845pm We close up for the night and I take a relaxing soak in the bath tub. We get in bed and I type out this blog post as we watch a little TV.
1030pm Lights Out
Pretty simple day! I will be out of town for the last two days of school for them, so my Mom will be bringing them!! As soon as we get back home, it will be summer! The kids both start ISR swim lessons as soon as we get back. Brody will just take a few days of refresher and Madelyn will take the full 5-6 weeks full of lessons. Summer is already filling up with lots of fun things and I can’t wait for it!
Our days look oddly similar! Haha. I had started to do a day in the life post last week and made it to 10am before I forgot to take any more pics. Ha! Can’t wait to hear more about your trip!
Packed but perfect day! Its honestly amazing how much a little help from your/my mom (does that make sense?!) can totally improve your day! Also, I reread the sentence “Brody turns 4 in June” like 5 times thinking you must’ve had a typo. How can that be?????
Oh yeah!! I’m always so thankful when my mom can help me drop kids off or pick them up from school. It adds like 45 min more kid free time to my day ?
LOVE these types of posts! Fun to see what a day in your life looks like!
Love these posts – it’s always fun to peak into someone’s life 🙂 xoxo ERIN
I just discovered dip gels recently and I’m obsessed! I always had acrylics, but they are a game changer for sure!
