Over the Summer, I was on a major organizing kick trying to get lots of little projects complete. I had seen this idea to organize kids paperwork and school things and I knew I wanted to re-create it with a keepsake box. I also shared it on my Instastories awhile back and a bunch of you asked me about them. I originally found it here. I went on the hunt for all of the supplies and finally got it done. I had one big stack of things just stuffed away of the kids things that I started bringing home from their Mom’s Day Out classes and I wanted to sort through it and find a place for everything.
I bought these plastic bins from Office Depot for each kid. I love that they came in cute colors. I used my labeler to create labels for each file. I chose the Smead “Color” hanging folders to match each each box too.
I organized them into the following categories and then left a few blank to add when the kids get a little older…
:: Potential Categories ::
– Report Cards
– Artwork
– School Pictures
– Toddler
– Preschool
– 1st – 12th Grades (1 file for each)
– Academic Awards
– Athletic Awards
– Dance
– Cheer
– Sports
– Theater
– Misc Awards
– Gymnastics
– Birthday Cards
I love the idea of adding their names to each of the boxes too one day. You can use a Cricut or a Silhouette machine if you are handy with those, but I’m not. I’m hoping one day I will be.
I store our boxes in the garage because that is the only place we really have room right now. So I saw another really good idea where you can just have these nice small boxes in the house to store the items that we save throughout the year and then I can go file them away in their keepsake boxes at the end of the year!!!
What do you think?? Would you make a keepsake box for your kids?

This is such a great idea – so organized! I had boxes for the kids when they were younger. Now that they’re older, I have a book I got with envelopes in it for each year. They fill out information on the page for that year with their favorites, etc. Thanks for the link up!
This is such a cute idea! My mom had something similar for a lot of the things she (or we) wanted to keep throughout our school days – awards, really good grades on certain papers/projects, etc.
