We spent the first week of August in Seaside, Fl which was the kids last week off before school started back up. We spent a few days with just our family and then had Matt’s Mom and sisters family come join us for the second part of the week.
I was able to snag this house at the last minute with a nice discount and it was such a gem. It is in Seaside right on the ocean with a great location. It is located right across the street from Surfing Deer restaurant if you are familiar with that. The house is called Soak up the Sun.
The house had 3 bedrooms plus a big bunk room which was an old converted garage but it also has its own bathroom. The house fit everyone nicely and having the location right on the beach is just hard to beat. We also rented a golf cart during our stay and it made quick trips into Seaside a lot easier. There is now designated parking for golf carts around the Seaside circle and even though it can still be full sometimes, it is so nice to have more parking available.
The front and back of our house. We had a great back deck with lounge chairs, outdoor table and a grill. We never ended up grilling out, but it would have been so nice out there.
We spent all of our days with time on the beach. We would set up our own chairs each day (you can also use a company to set up your chairs daily) and just leave them down there all day long and could go back and forth. The nice part this year was that the kids were at an age now that if they needed to run up to the house for something, they could do it all on their own and we didn’t have to run up there with them!
Did I mention that the water was just gorgeous while we were there?
Matt and I had a date night while we were darn there and I was so excited to try out Rosemary Beach’s newest restaurant, Gallions. We knew that Uber’s can be really hard to come by on 30A, so we learned about a new service called Goobers. It is a golf cart Uber service. We actually hopped in this bus the night we went to Rosemary beach because they do not allow golf carts in Rosemary, but you can grab golf cart service for other areas on 30A. They have an app that you can use and download.
We had meals at Bud and Alley’s, The Great Southern Cafe’s Chicken Shack, Old Florida Fish House, Gallion’s, and Cafe Thirty A.
On the last night, my MIL kindly kept the kiddos at home, and we took Matts sister and BIL out to dinner at Cafe Thirty A which is always a favorite spot. We had drinks first at Surfing Deer and met our friends Mike and Tiffany who were down at the Watercolor Inn celebrating their anniversary and we all had a fun adult night! Cafe Thirty A is always so consistent with their food!
One of my childhood best friends was also in Seaside with her family and I was able to go visit with her for a little bit and have all our girls together!
We enjoyed so much time at the beach and loved our slow, relaxing days!! We were so sad to say goodbye. I would absolutely look at renting this little house on the Gulf again one day!
We stopped in Destin on our way home and had lunch with my Aunt and Uncle and got a nice visit in. They are the cutest and always love my time with them.
