Our Weekend in Miami for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour

I am here to recap a special weekend that Matt and I took with just our middle daughter, Madelyn.  I have already written a very long blog post here all about our experience at our first Taylor Swift concert as well as some of our tips for attending and outfit suggestions.  But I also wanted to recap our full weekend in Miami because it is very rare for Matt and I both to sneak away with just one child.  It was such a special weekend to give her all the attention as well as I get to take her to her first ever concert, Taylor Swift.

We started by surprising her the week we were leaving for our trip with tickets to the show and a letter we wrote to her where she had to guess where we were going!!  She was so excited all week long and couldn’t believe she was going with just me and Matt.  The concert was on Friday night and we flew to Miami Friday morning.

We got to the airport Friday morning and we immediately started running into other Swifties at our gate.  Taylor Swift was playing three nights in Miami (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and so lots of people were flying in for the show.  Madelyn started trading friendship bracelets at the gate and we listened to stories of how different people got their hands on tickets.  We booked a room at the One Hotel South Beach and as soon as we landed, we headed straight to the hotel.  As soon as we dropped our bags, we headed up to the rooftop restaurant, Watr, and had a late lunch before getting ready for the concert.

We finished lunch and went to our room to get dressed.  I wanted to give Madelyn and I plenty of time to get ready because she wanted me to do her hair and makeup and we wanted to film some fun tik Tok videos of us getting ready.

We all got dress in our pink sparkles and feathers and we were ready to head to the show.

We decided at the very last minute to book a driver to the Hard Rock Stadium.  It took over an hour to get to the stadium with traffic and thankfully Matt snagged an entire pitcher of Mojitos from the hotel bar to enjoy in our oversized car! They ran out of all regular sized vehicles, so we ended up with a big sprinter van as our ride.  It was fun though.

We were sooooooo excited when we got to the show.  I am not going to go into how incredible our whole experience was all over again.  You can go read all about it in this post 🙂

We had floor seats and they were pretty incredible.

It brought Matt so much joy watching her excitement for the show.  It really was so special just being her and us.

We got home super late on Friday night from the show and everyone was exhausted.  Madelyn slept in late and we had a nice slow morning.

We ate breakfast at the hotel and then took an Uber to the Bal Harbour shops to walk around a bit and find somewhere fun for lunch.   It was an awesome shopping center with beautiful foliage and an indoor/outdoor feel.  It was a lot of high end shops and some really cute restaurants.

We had lunch at Carpaccio and ended up sitting next to a few of the Southern Charm girls from Charleston.  That’s a picture of me with Venita Aspen.  She was so sweet.

The weather all weekend was really windy and a little cooler than we were hoping for, but we decided to take a little time after lunch to try the hotel pool.

All day I was thinking about trying to get tickets again to go back to the Taylor Swift concert Saturday night.  We had so much fun on Friday, I was a little obsessed with the idea of going back.  I watched tickets all day thinking that maybe the prices would drop the closer we got to show time, but they never did!

Instead, we kept our plan, and went to our dinner reservation at Jaya at the Setai hotel.  Matt and I had been there before and it was a pretty cool spot with entertainers that danced around while you eat dinner.

Our flight on Sunday morning was early, so it was time to pack up and head home to the rest of the family.  We had such a great trip with Madelyn and I know it is a weekend she will never forget.

I think we wore her out 🙂

I hope to be able to do more special things like this with each of kids.  Having siblings is the best gift we could give to them, but I know how much they appreciate this undivided attention as well.
