Our Weekend in Watercolor | Seaside, Florida

We had so much on our long weekend getaway to Seaside, FL. It was a bit of a spontaneous trip that we booked the week of because we still had beautiful weather here in Florida and no plans for the weekend including soccer! So we found a really cute townhouse in Watercolor and jumped on the great discounted price.

I found our townhome through VRBO. We knew we wanted a place close to the Watercolor Inn if possible and we liked that we could walk to the Inn and other cute shops or restaurants around there. We ended up absolutely loving our rental. It was a two bedroom but felt so spacious. The master bedroom had a closet just big enough to put a pack N play which was such a pleasant surprise 😃

Our Rental Property

Here is a quick little tour of our rental house. I loved the decor and spacious feel of the home.

FRIDAY

We arrived on Friday around 5pm.  We were able to walk right into our townhome and park right outside the door which was so nice.  Our townhome came with all the passes you need to access all of the Watercolor amenities.  That was exactly what we were looking for.

We had a sitter coming that evening and Matt and I walked right next door to the Watercolor Inn restaurant, Fish Out of Water.  I have to admit that the restaurant was not as good as I remembered.  It seems like they have renovated it sometime in the last 5 years or so to be much more family friendly.  I totally understand their reasoning for doing that, but it didn’t end up being a favorite for us.  However, if we needed a spot to take our kids to dinner; this would have been great.  It was just more casual than I remembered.

SATURDAY

Saturday morning we grabbed our bikes and headed into the Seaside circle and went to breakfast at Great Southern Cafe.  Thankfully we were able to walk right in and have a seat inside.  I didn’t go to breakfast with everything  I needed to keep Molly entertained and she is just in that stage where she screams at random in restaurants and does not want to be held down.  So just not relaxing 😌 But the kids colored on the table and we scarfed down a delicious breakfast.

We walked around a few shops after breakfast in the circle and then biked home to put our swim suits on and get ready for Camp Watercolor.  This area is new this year in Watercolor and it is so much fun!  They have two big pools with slides and a lazy river.  They have a small bar that has a couple TVs and then a food window to order food poolside.

After the pool, we went back to the house to let Molly take a nap and watch a little football.  We chilled for a bit and then put swimsuits back on to walk over to the beach at the Watercolor Inn.  They have built a brand new Beach Club at Watercolors that has a nice bar and pool as well.  I didn’t check to see if they were serving food there, but I am pretty sure they do.

We let the kids play at the beach for awhile.  We joked that Molly was being a bit fussy that afternoon, but she finally got her groove at the beach which was so nice.  She was definitely dealing with some teething on this trip.

This has been my favorite Beaufort Bonnet print. I love seeing the kids matching in this pink and green palm print.  They are currently on sale too in lots of sizes.

Brodys Trunks | Girls Suits

We had our sitter come back on Saturday night and we had a date night at Surfing Deer in Seagrove.  We have been wanting to try this spot forever and it was so yummy.  We had a blast sitting up at the bar, watching football, and sipping Spa-tinis 😀

Also, I have gotten questions before about how my husband and I get out so much when we are on vacation.  Honestly, we love traveling with our kids; but what is the saying??? Traveling with your kids is more like a trip than a vacation? 😂 We try to make it a priority when traveling with our kids that we get to get out by ourselves and have some time together and explore restaurants that we wouldn’t be able to with our kids.  We are definitely foodies and it has just always been important to us.  So, I just wanted to share that.

SUNDAY

On Sunday morning, we drove down to Seagrove and went to one of my favorite breakfast spots called The Perfect Pig.  They have the most ridiculous breakfast sandwich that is crusted in parmesan cheese.  It is way huge and rich, but its worth a try.

After breakfast, we went back home and got our suits on to head back to Camp Watercolor.  By the way, from our townhouse, we drove to Camp Watercolor because it is a little distance away.  However, you totally could bike if you wanted to.

This ended up being such a fun afternoon.  We were there for like 5 plus hours.  The big kids did the slides like 88 times and had a blast.  Molly was being so good and powered right through a nap.  One thing to note about this time of year (we were there around Oct 1st) is that it was really nice because it wasn’t too crowded at all.  It made it so fun!!

Kids Swimsuits

After we got home, I biked and grabbed us some lunch across the street from the Wine World Bar.  You know what was so fun??? I ran into Jessica from Lipstick, Heels and A Baby Blog and her family!  They were so cute and sweet and looked adorable.  And I looked like a sweaty mess and forgot to ask her for a picture 😢 😆  But it was super fun to meet her.  She lives on 30A and posts about a lot of great things in the area.

After lunch, I scooted off by myself for a little bit while Matt hung with the kids and watched a little football.  I hit up a few of my favorite shops in Seaside and toured around looking at a few of the changes.

Sunday evening we drove down to the HUB for dinner.  It is a great spot for the kids.  They have some artificial turf for the kids to run and play and lots of little spots to grab food and a big screen TV.  We ate pizza and chilled and then headed home.

MONDAY

When we stay for a three day weekend down there, we get up at around 7am and drive straight home.  It is about 1.5 to 2 hours to get back home and Matt goes straight to work and the kids go straight to school.  It is so nice to have the extra full day on vacay that it is totally worth it to just get up early and go!

On our way out of town, we hit up the Black Bear Bakery.  Everyone raves about their baked goods.  I grabbed a few things for the kids to eat in the car and they were pretty yummy.

It was a great long weekend and I treasure these weekends with my family so much!  I just LOVE being at the beach!  Hopefully I have answered your questions about Seaside or Watercolor and if I haven’t, leave a comment and I am happy to answer!

Ok now you have me missing 30a!! I want to try The Perfect Pig next time we’re there. I think I’m going to have to get Kyle to plan a long weekend for us in Seaside in the spring.
