This weekend was a messy one. We got home from our vacation in the Bahamas last Monday and while we were gone, Madelyn started with the stomach flu. It turns out that she passed it to my MIL who was babysitting and two of our nieces that were visiting. It took a few days, but then I caught it and so did Brody. I woke up with it on Friday morning, the day we were supposed to leave town to visit my brother and his kids in Miami. We had to make the decision not to go and thankfully we did. It would have been horrible to pass it to the rest of the family and if Brody had it while we were there.
We spent Friday sad and frustrated. Matt had already taken the day off work, so thankfully he was able to help me with the kids. We pretty much just spent the day recovering and trying not to feel sorry for ourselves! We were also praying that Brody and Matt wouldn’t get it. Friday night I was just looking forward to a good nights sleep when Brody came in our room throwing up at 11:30pm 🙁 It was a rough night.
Saturday was a pretty cloudy day and Brody actually woke up feeling good. The bug seemed to pass for him quickly. We were all needing to get out the house for a bit, so we ventured toward the beach. Madelyn screamed her head off the whole ride and the kids were so whiney at the beach, we realized we made a big mistake! Then we get home and both kids refused to nap…Mama was ready to lose it!!
Sunday was our day! We woke up all feeling good and packed up to head back to the beach! It was so nice and the kids had a ball. Me and Matt were both smiling and thankful to end the weekend on a good note! The other positive note of the weekend– I’m more than halfway through the new season of Bloodline!! I’m so obsessed. I’m looking forward to tackling the week and hopefully having a healthy family.

Sunday night Matt was dying to try to re-create a meal that he had in the Bahamas. It was a spicy seafood pasta with a red sauce. So I did some googling and made a version of this. It was so yummy, but I got a little carried away with the red pepper flakes. I think it was a tad too spicy, but delicious. We used shrimp, scallops, and crabmeat which was perfect. We will definitely make it again, but with a little less spice. It was a perfect meal to end the weekend.
And I’ll leave you with this quick video from Friday of the kids because it’s just funny…
So sorry you had to miss time with your brother and family! A house full of stomach bug is just the worst. Glad you all are feeling better and got to salvage a little of the weekend <3
Ugh, there is honestly NOTHING worse than the stomach bug. Nothing. I’m so sorry it hit y’all. I love your bathing suit! I recently bought one from Cupshe and am pretty obsessed with the fit (and the price)! Hope y’all have a much, much better week!
We had a similar Sunday that just totally restored our shitty past week! I was having such a pity party and it was just what the doc ordered. I want your entire dinner from Sunday, so I’m going to pitch a date night at home for this Friday and see if I can recreate!
Your family is absolutely precious – love following along on here & on Instagram. I cannot believe you got that suit for under $30, great find! So cute!
So glad you guys are all on the mend. The stomach bug is NO JOKE 🙁 that pasta looks so yummy, will have to try it soon!
