Scenes from our Weekend : Fourth of July

We had such a fun holiday weekend for the 4th and I wish I could do it all over again!  We kicked the weekend off on Thursday when our friends from New Orleans came in town to stay with us for the weekend.   We cooked a really simple and low-key dinner for the night and visited with friends and family.
I set the table for the 4th as I was already in the decorating spirit after Brody’s birthday party and we actually never even sat at the table for dinner!  But it was still festive and looked pretty ๐Ÿ™‚
The cute star napkins are from Potterybarn.
The theme was red, white and blue all weekend long for Brody and I and we did a pretty good job!

My beautiful nephew, William, who turned 3 month this weekend.

Fresh Tomato Pie was for dinner and it was so damn good!!!
Friday morning we loaded up the car with all of us and the dog and headed to the boat.  We were headed on the boat for the day to a fun spot called, Fort McRay, to meet some friends and relax for the afternoon.
Brody and Mere were ready for the boat trip!
We anchored and parked ourselves on the beach for the afternoon and let the kids play in the sand and water!
Brody was such a trooper all day and I was thrilled because it could definitely have been a disaster if he was a fusspot all day!
I was proud of us for behaving ourselves on the boat all day because we had to get home and rally for friends to come over to the house and watch the fireworks.  I kept things super simple for the evening since I knew we would be gone all day and was smart enough to throw a pork butt in the crockpot that morning before we left on the boat.  It was perfect.
The weather was absolutely spectacular all weekend thanks to the hurricane in the Atlantic that sucked all the humidity and some of the heat out of NW Florida.  It was so pleasant (sorry to my friends on the East Coast who probably didn’t have such great weather).

One of my besties since we were 4 years old was in town from St. Pete for the weekend and it was so much fun to see her and catch up!!
We woke up Saturday and couldn’t believe the weekend was just starting.  The weather was gorgeous again, so we decided to make it a pool day at my brother and SIL’s house and grill out and swim.

(Sorry, can’t find the dress anywhere. It’s so short on me, I have to wear it as a cover-up and not a dress.)
My MIL was set to come over and babysit Saturday night so we could take our guests out to dinner on Saturday night.  We ended up just walking from the house to one of our favorite local restaurants, Jaco’s, and watched the fishing weigh-in of a big tournament that was finishing up.   It turned out to be a lot of fun.  The weather was perfect again and we enjoyed cocktails outside and ate some apps as we watched the boats come in with their prize fish!

We were sad to see Sunday come and wanted to squeeze in one last hooray, so we took our friends to brunch at the Country Club before they hit the road.  Brody posed with them for a family pic and then we kissed them goodbye to head back to NOLA.
Matt’s family are in Perdido for the week and they had lunch in Pensacola, so they came by for the afternoon to visit and play with the Brodster.  They are so sweet and good to him and can keep him entertained for hours.  So Mama was thrilled!!!

Fourth of July weekends not complete without a big bite of watermelon, so Brody bit in!!

I’m sad to see the weekend go, but looking forward to enjoying more summer weekends ahead.  I hope everyone had a fun and safe weekend!!
