This weekend was one for the books! It is just the BEST feeling to see and reconnect with old friends and Mama got some time away from the kids to feel like she was twenty again 😂
One of my besties from college came down to visit for a couple of days last week and it was such a treat. She is pregnant with her first baby and she just came down to visit my family and catch up. This type of one-on-one times seems so rare these days, so I just loved showing her around town and hanging with the babies.
I took her to a Fashion Show event at our Yacht Club one afternoon which was cute and introduced her to a few of our friends.
She left on Thursday morning to head down to her hometown of Tampa and then I followed one day behind! I went to Tampa solo for the weekend to go meet up with some of our college friends and go to the Florida vs Auburn game in Gainesville.
I flew out on Friday morning and I was so excited. I met up with friends, checked into an adorable hotel, grabbed a fancy dinner and laughed and reminisced the night away.

I arrived to the Epicurean Hotel which is in South Tampa and I just loved it! The decor is so fun and I was greeted with a glass of Rose and Mama was feeling fancy 💃
We had dinner across the street from our hotel at Berns Steakhouse. It is an experience. It is rated one of the top restaurants in the state of Florida year after year. If you are ever in the area, you should definitely try to go!
Saturday morning we headed out for Gainesville. We left at 8am, so the party started early. They rented a pretty sweet bus for us to travel to the game in for the day.
My friend planned the whole day for us and our tailgate was amazing. She used the Tailgate Guys company and the did an awesome job. They had a TV, tables, chairs, coolers, ice, and a personalized sign all ready for us. They also had guys that helped us bring all of our drinks and things from the bus to the tailgate and had a catered lunch for us!! It was such a fun way to enjoy the game.
We made sure to walk over to the Swamp and check out our old stomping grounds. It is always so much fun to see.
I didn’t actually ever go into the game which I am pretty sad about now. I didn’t have tickets because the whole trip was pretty last minute for me and I didn’t feel like trying to scalp any by myself at game time. So I just watched it with some friends at the tailgate. But my friend, Ginny, from home took this beautiful picture in the game that captures the Swamp so perfectly!
The bus ride home was a fun one! We WON, so that made it a fun celebration.
Sunday, my flight wasn’t until later in the evening and I was so excited to lounge in my hotel room all morning long!! I slept in until around 9am which was amazing and didn’t get out of bed until 10am. I hugged my friends goodbye in the lobby and enjoyed a delicious breakfast all by myself!
Sunday around lunch time, I headed down to St. Pete to spend the day with my friends down there. It turned into such a fun day. We watched the Saints vs Bucks game at a fun bar/restaurant called Stone and Oak (I think 🤔). Then we went over to the Vinoy Hotel. They have a newer rooftop bar up there that was so fun to see and had beautiful views.
And while we were there, all the wives from the Houston Astros Baseball team started to file in! That also includes supermodel, Kate Upton. I wanted to ask her for a picture so bad, but instead I just snuck a picture from the bar!
She was so beautiful, yet unassuming! Everyone says she is so sweet and approachable around Houston! Maybe I’ll get the guts up to ask her for a picture next time 😉
It was time for me to fly home and I did it with one huge grin on my face! It was the perfect, fun weekend away!
Looks so fun! I’m sure your husband is happy you didn’t drag him to hang out with people so much younger than him at a tailgate!
