Scenes from our Weekend + {WINNER}

Happy Monday friends!! Hopefully everyone has a fun week of events planned leading up to Thanksgiving.  I always love Thanksgiving because I feel like everyone gets more time off for Thanksgiving than they even do Christmas.  I always hate when Christmas falls in the middle of the week.  Anyway, we had a fun weekend at home and started getting into the Thanksgiving spirit.
Friday night Matt and I went to a friends birthday party downtown and then met up with my best friend since the 1st grade to celebrate her ENGAGEMENT!!!

Isn’t she the cutest??  Quick story: She met her fiancΓ© on my bachelorette party in Last Vegas two and a half years ago.  Best part?  He’s Australian and was living (lives) in Perth, Australia.  Pretty nuts, right?  They are seriously the most adorable couple ever and it was true fate!

Yikes! End of the night photo πŸ™‚

Saturday, we ran a few errands and Brody got to play on a trampoline for the first time.  It was built in the ground which was pretty rad.  If I wasn’t feeling a bit light-headed sluggish already (from the night before), I definitely would have showed off my mad trampoline skills.

Saturday night, we headed to my Mom’s house for dinner with my two brothers.  We are all going to be in different places for Thanksgiving this year, so we decided to have a fun family dinner to celebrate together.

My Mom made Shrimp and Crabmeat Mirliton Casserole.  I don’t have the recipe, but she will certainly give it to me!  It’s so good.  If you haven’t heard of mirliton, you might know it as Chayote Squash or Vegtable Pear.  Here’s a recipe from a relative of ours, Chef John Folse, who makes a Crabmeat and Shrimp Stuffed Mirliton.  That’s a delicious way to eat them too!

Sunday was a rainy, yucky day that was mostly spent inside with me prepping and cooking for Thanksgiving.  My Mom came to help too which made it a lot more fun.  Brody seemed a bit under-the-weather most of the weekend, so I had to snap this rare snuggly moment at the end of the weekend.  He laid like this for over an hour while we had football on in the background.  This never happens unless he’s sick or drinking a bottle and it just melted my heart <3

Lastly, I wanted to thank everyone who entered the Sephora gift card giveaway last week for my 2-year blogiversary!!!  I love each and everyone of you for supporting me!! Thank you again.
Congratulations to Haley Haydon for winning! I’ve sent you an email with details πŸ™‚
Have a fun-festive week and check back later this afternoon for my first gift list of the season!!!
