Scenes From Our Weekend | A Cold and Productive One

The forecast for this entire weekend was COLD.  We live in the panhandle of Florida and we don’t get really cold weather often.  It was in the twenties and thirties for most of the weekend.  We had no set plans for the weekend and figured we would just bunker down.  People in Florida rarely leave their homes when weather is in the twenties :).

Friday was the last day of the kids winter break.  It was cold as could be, but it was just me and the kids and we needed to find something to do.  I bundled them up and thought we might be okay to go to the park for a little bit.  It was freezing and off to Chick-fil-a we went for an early lunch and an indoor playground!

We cooked dinner at home Friday night, christened our fireplace for the first time (we’ve been in our house for 3 years), and had a family room dance party with Brody’s new microphone set.

Saturday morning was the coldest of all, but I was determined to bundle up and go out to breakfast.  I feel like we had spent the last three weeks of winter break in our house and I just wanted to go out!  We bundled the kids up in their ski clothes that we didn’t get to take to Vail and out the door we went.

I was happy to bundle up too and cover my greasy rat’s nest with a beanie!

Beanie | Sweater | Jacket | Jeans {sold out}| Boots

We came straight home from breakfast, started another fire and hung out because it was too cold to be outside.  This is when I decided it was time to get productive!

I snuck upstairs while Matt was playing with the kids and tackled a project that I’ve been wanting/needing to do for awhile.  My Closet!  It had gotten overcrowded, messy and stressful.  I needed to take the less is more approach.  Clean out drawers, throw out suits that are 10 years old that I haven’t worn in 8 years since leaving the banking world, and organize my jewelry.

I made a TON of progress, it feels so much better.  I rearranged a few things, got rid of quite a bit, and cleaned it all up.  I still have several things I want to change in closet, but it will take more time.  I’m slowly trying to change out all of my hangers to the thin magic hangers and I need a few more shelves made.  I shared a closet tour here when we first moved into the house.

Saturday night we had dinner with friends for a birthday celebration.  It was a wonderful party and a nice escape for us after being cooped up all day.

Sunday was cold again, but the sun was shining and we promised Brody that we would put up the bouncy house for a little bit.  We spent a little time out there.  We made cookies, cooked some chili for lunch and then went to my brother and SIL’s house for dinner.  I knocked out a couple more projects on Sunday too which felt great.  I feel like I’m already ahead of myself for the week since getting these done.

I updated and added some photos to our gallery wall.  I have a few more photos I need to get printed, but it always feels so good to update them.

I also started working on our pantry.  I feel like I organize this pantry and within a week, it’s a cluttered mess again. I picked up these white baskets from Target last week and I like the way they keep things corralled.  I still have a lot of work to do in here, but it feels good to get a start on it.

What are you looking to organize this month??  It’s nice to have a weekend without plans sometimes and force yourself to tackle some projects during down time.  The winter is always a good time to knock out some indoor house projects.

Cheers to a great week.  My kids are back in school today and I’m planning on killin’ it this week!

I know. It doesn’t take any time to become a mess again! I’ve been so lazy when it comes to closet sales. They can be so much work! Haha. If I have some really good pieces, I will try to load them on the blog or Instagram!
