Scenes From Our Weekend | Hurricane Irma

Hey Friends.  Sorry we’ve been a little MIA around here.  It seemed like hurricane Irma just had us stuck in mud!  I live in Pensacola, FL in the panhandle of Florida and we are notorious for getting hit with hurricanes.  It seems like hurricanes always make their way into the Gulf and then we get some part of the storm.  Thankfully, that has not been the case this year; but until Irma made her turn North, I wasn’t going to be 100% convinced that she wasn’t coming to us.

So last week was spent watching the storm pummel the US and British Virgin Islands which was so incredibly sad.  I was watching that closely because we not only had a trip planned to visit there next week, but because it is an area close to my heart.  I travel there with my family and love everything it has to offer to it’s tourists.  It makes me so sad to see how far they have been set back.

Our weekend was spent at home mostly just hanging out and getting together with friends.   We actually had one of our friends from South Florida and her son, Seth, come and stay with us.  It was so much fun having them here and the kids had so much fun with Seth who is just about 14 months old.

School was cancelled on both Friday and Monday, so we called it a hurricane party weekend.  The weather cooled down so much these last few days and it was really gorgeous.

Saturday morning we cooked breakfast at the house and then got ready for Brody’s first soccer game!  I took videos of the game, but I can’t believe I didn’t get a photo.  I think I was too busy chasing Madelyn around and making sure she didn’t run off the field!!

Sunday we went out for breakfast and hung around the house starting to get a little stir crazy.

We played the pie face game, dressed in our Halloween costumes, played with our buddy Seth, and then decided to grab some food for dinner that night!  We knew that on Monday the grocery was going to be closed because of the hurricane, so we needed to stock up!

Brody got a hold of my phone and wanted to take photos of us.  He didn’t do too bad 🙂

Sunday night we made martinis because #sundayfunday!

We went and played at our friends house on Monday to keep the kids occupied and enjoyed the cooler weather.  The kids actually needed sweaters and we were getting just a few gusts of wind from the outer bands of hurricane Irma.

Tuesday, school was back open and we couldn’t be more excited!! This sweet little girl will be 2 years old tomorrow and I truly can’t believe it.  She is full of personality and tough as nails.

Happy Humpday!

  3. So glad you’re safe, girl! We had to ride out the storm here in GA, too. They closed schools here Mon and Tue and our power was out all day Monday. There are trees down everywhere on houses, cars, and roads, but we are safe and dry and our house didn’t sustain any damage besides a broken gate. Whew!
