Our Week in Rosemary Beach | Thanksgiving 2018

I can’t believe it has already been a week since Thanksgiving!!  We are completely decorated for Christmas now and if you had asked me a week ago if there was any chance of that, I would have said, “hell no!”  haha!

So a couple of months back, Matt and I started throwing around the idea of renting a house in Rosemary Beach for Thanksgiving week.  We had never been down there during Thanksgiving week and thought it would be fun.  Well, us talking about it led to my Mom and her boyfriend wanting to join as well as my brother, SIL and her family and then my Mom’s boyfriends family and my MIL. So we ended up with 3 houses full of family and friends and had the best time!! I will say best time with a small caveat because all three of my kids were sick at some point during the trip, but I still loved it so much!

We were pretty late to book our houses and realized pretty quickly that Rosemary is still a popular spot during Thanksgiving even though it can still be a bit cold.  We booked the Bentley Beach Cottage and were very happy with it.  It sleeps a ton because it has a lot of single/bunk beds, a nice pool that we had heated, a beautiful white decor and a pretty fancy kitchen.  It is just a 5 min walk (or less) to Barrett Square and is just North of 30A.  We were fine to be North of 30A this trip since we knew the beach wasn’t going to be top priority, but I will say that I still prefer to be South of 30A.  The internet (and cell service) was pretty much terrible the entire time we were there.  They said a lot of it was due to Hurricane Michael which I completely understand.  Other than that, we were very happy!

I am going to let the photos do most of the talking for this post, but here’s a quick recap.  We hit the beach two good days and probably would have done at least one more, but we ended up spending three of our days going to the Urgent Care which later turned into the ER.  I can’t speak highly enough of Dr. Jackie at the Doc Smiley Urgent Care in Seaside.  She’s actually the P.A., but she’s amazing.  Hopefully you will never need it, but if you do, she was awesome!!  Molly (the baby) ended up with RSV, but thankfully is doing well now.  We walked around  Barrett Square, had lunch at Georges in Alys Beach, drinks on the rooftop of the Pearl, the most gorgeous beach night sunset, cocktails at Paradis and we were supposed to have date night at Pescado, but had to cancel because of sick kids!  But that’s okay.  We loved our dinner’s at home, brought plenty of wine, cooked Thanksgiving dunch at our house, watched the Turkey Trot that morning and had tons of good family/cousin time!   Despite the sick kiddos, we still had a blast and it will definitely be a Thanksgiving we always remember!!

Here’s the photos of our house and pictures from the week! I’m sad to say goodbye to Thanksgiving, but now can’t wait for all the Christmas festivities!  (If you aren’t familiar with Rosemary Beach, I did a big post all about it here.)

This last photo is of Molly at the ER the morning after Thanksgiving.  Thankfully, she didn’t have to be admitted to the hospital, but we did end up packing up and heading home one night early.  We decided it was better to be home and in our own beds and close to our own doctors and hospitals just in case something happened with her.  She has been good to go since!!  We are more thankful than ever for our health!
