Rosemary Beach | June 2019

We just spent the week in Rosemary Beach with family and friends and had such a wonderful time. This was the fourth year we have done this (with one year where we traveled to Marthas Vineyard instead).

Our family has just fallen in love with this place.  We love the feel of being able to drive there (about 2 hours for us) and then once we are there, we basically never have to touch our car again!  We walk or bike anywhere we want to go and we are happy staying in the tiny little town.

We rent different houses every time we go.  You can see a list of all the houses we have rented plus my full travel guide to Rosemary Beach here. This year we rented the Hemmingway Cottage which was directly on Rosemary Beach.  This is the first time we have rented one on the beach.  Typically we have been a few houses off the beach.

The house was really nice.  It was three bedrooms with the master on the 3rd floor, kitchen/dining/family room on the 2nd floor and then two bedrooms on the first floor.  The decor of the house was not my taste, but we could certainly look past that. The balcony off the family room was so nice to have our coffee in the mornings and our cocktails in the evenings.

The first weekend we were in Rosemary was Father’s Day weekend.  We had 10 adults and decided to hire a chef for the first time to come to our house. We used 30A Signature Catering and they were wonderful. Our chefs name was Sean and we chose the Cajun menu which was so delicious.

Cajun Menu

  • Cheese & Charcuterie Board:
Berkshire pork trotter salami, bresaola, pecan praline goat cheese, prosciutto, truffled Manchego, smoked gruyere, Jarlsberg, red curry pistachio, crostini, warm olives
  • New Orleans BBQ Shrimp
with crispy GA ham hock grits
  • Baby Uptown Caesar Salad
with Andouille lardons, feta, tomato, cucumber, boiled egg, croutons & Caesar dressing
  • Corn & Andouille Crusted Black Grouper
with creamed fennel and Signature potato pie with gruyere cheese
  • Bananas Foster Crepes
    with vanilla ice cream

Our schedule down there usually consists of breakfast and a bike ride in the mornings and then beach it for awhile.  Then in the afternoons we enjoy going to the pool for a bit or rest time if needed!

We had some babysitters while we were down there and we also brought our nanny for half of the trip. So it was fun for Matt and I to get out a few nights for dinner!  We loved Cuvee 30A and La Crema.

We spent one of our days at Shipwreck Island in Panama City and the kids loved it.  It was about a 30 min drive from Rosemary, but it is a great park for both the younger kids and older kids.  They have a big area that is safe for kids that can’t swim.  I had a blast going down some of the big, straight down slides!  I haven’t rode them in forever.

The kids hunting for crabs one evening.

Me and the kiddos in our matching Cabana Life suits.  I am in love with their adult rash guards that have SPF.

It was so much fun getting to visit with Natalie of East Coast Chic Blog. We have been able to meet down here multiple times now and it is so much fun!

My Yellow Dress

I wore my Lemon Caftan one day that I just love!  You can still get 50% off this dress and any other lemon print dress with code LEMONAM50 through the end of July.

This year was the first year we planned to have a beach bonfire! This was so much fun. You book it through the Rosemary Beach Chair Rental Company and it is around $500 for the night. It is 3 hours and you can have up to 20 people. The price is still the same even if you only have 5 people, so make sure you have a group!  We chose to have dinner at my Brother and SIL’s house first and then we went down to the bonfire at 6:30 and the kids got to run and roast s’mores.   They had a great time.  This will definitely be a new addition to our annual trip!
