So many of us are in different seasons of life right now. Whether it’s a happy and busy time, such as a new baby; a sad occasion, like an illness or loss in a family, or just general stress and craziness – such as a household in quarantine – a delivered meal of comfort food is always appreciated.
I thought I’d post a list of some of my favorite meals to share, that have been tested and approved many times by friends and family. Each recipe is linked below. Many of these are on the rotation in my home as well! All are easy to assemble and transport, and most can be popped in the oven or frozen for later. These also reheat very well. Deliver with a salad and dessert, and make someone’s day just a bit easier!
This is a new recipe for me, and I know I’ll be making it quite a few times this fall. Makes enough for two dinners – freeze one and bake one, or keep one for yourself and give away the other.
Such an easy recipe, and the leftovers might be better than the first round!
My family absolutely LOVES this recipe! Great for feeding a crowd, and there are so many ways to serve them.
This recipe is from my friend Natalie, and it is so good. Perfect summer dinner.
Who doesn’t love lasagna? This one is actually very easy to assemble! I used no-boil lasagna noodles to save a little time, and topped it with fresh mozzarella.
This is so easy to make and freezes well; almost like a quicker version of a lasagna.
Delicious over a salad!
This is in my family’s weeknight rotation. It makes great leftovers! Send an easy salad and loaf of garlic bread and the meal is complete.
Spinach Sausage and Tortellini Soup
Just a great, cozy recipe for fall and winter!
Linking the Pioneer Woman’s version. This is an old fashioned recipe, very easy to make, and is definitely comfort food! I always make one of these to freeze too!
This version only has four ingredients! Need I say more? I actually have a few different breakfast casserole recipes on the blog; you can find them by typing “breakfast casserole” into the search box at the top of the page.
Deliver this one with a green salad for dinner, and fruit for breakfast!
If I can, I like to add a fun and easy side item. These three recipes are all winners for a quick breakfast or snack. The energy balls are delicious, and perfect for a nursing mom!
Zucchini, Carrot and Coconut Muffins
Linking directly to Natalie’s blog for this one. Both kids and adults love this recipe, as well as the banana muffins below!
Homemade Banana Muffins (the BEST)
For just a little extra detail, I like to give a copy of the recipe I used when I deliver a meal. This way, they can feel free to make it again if needed, and they can also make sure that all ingredients will agree with everyone in their home. I found a printable recipe card online, so that I always have one on hand. Here is the one I use!
It can be hard to commit to a meal train if you are not a cook, or if you just don’t have the time. Luckily, there are plenty of options that will deliver tasty dinners and desserts – you just do the ordering! Here are a couple of my go-tos when I am not able to cook, or need to send a meal quickly. They are both SUCH a treat! They can be frozen and I now just try to keep a couple of each of these in my freezer for easy drop offs or they are great to send to someone that lives out of town.
Goldbelly – Louisiana Chicken, and so much more! Check out their Care Packages and Gifts pages. They can do it all! (Thank you Mere for introducing me to these!!)
Southern Baked Pie Company – Meal kits, homemade pies, and more – all ready to ship. These homemade pies, both sweet and savory, are so delicious. I have tried several of the different flavors and they are so good.
I hope you find this list useful during this busy time! Have you tried any of these recipes? What are your favorite meals to share? Let me know in the comments…I am always looking for new ideas!
