Our Weekend in Rosemary Beach | Matt’s Birthday

We took Matt for a long weekend in Rosemary Beach for his birthday this year and it was so much fun!  The weather was in the low sixties, so it was a little cold; but there was not a cloud in the sky all weekend and the sun was shining bright.

I picked out a carriage house from the Rosemary Beach website back in January.  I found this one called the Briland Carriage house and I knew it would be a good fit for our family of five.   All the carriage houses in Rosemary are small but most of them usually have one bedroom and then either a set of twin beds or a pull out couch.  This one had one bedroom, a loft with three twin beds and two full bathrooms.  That is pretty big for carriage house standards.  Molly still sleeps in a pack N play and we just put it upstairs in the loft with the two big kids and it worked out great.  We were really lucky and couldn’t do it without the Slumber Pod tent to cover her pack n play.

THURSDAY

We went down on Thursday evening and headed straight to dinner at La Crema.  My Mom ended up coming down and joining us for the weekend which was super fun.  She took Madelyn in the car down with her and then Matt and I met them down with the other two kids a little later.  We love La Crema and can usually get away with taking the kids there by bribing them with some dessert fondue if they behave 😉

FRIDAY

Friday was our first full day and we started it off by going to our favorite breakfast down there called Big Bad Breakfast.  It was a beautiful day but it was cold. We knew the beach would probably not be an option, so the kids were begging to go rent their bikes!  We went over to Bamboo Bike Rentals after breakfast and got bikes for everyone and a carrier trailer for Molly.

We biked down to Alys Beach and let the kids run around the green area there and let out some steam.  We had races and they just ran and played.

After awhile, we biked back home and I walked the big kids over to look at the beach.  It was pretty windy and we all agreed that the next day would be a little warmer and better for the beach.

My Mom offered to hang back with Molly at the house while she napped and Matt and I could go have a little day date!  Madelyn wanted to hang home with her, so we took Brody with us and we walked around main street and ended up at the Pearl hotel for some lunch and beautiful rooftop views.

After about two hours, I realized that I had left my purse inside my bike basket !! ahh (that was before one sip of alcohol!). haha. Only in Rosemary beach was I not worried that the purse (wide open) would still be there without a thing missing 🙂

Friday night we had a babysitter and we went with my Mom to watch the sunset at Pescado and ate a few appetizers there and then headed to Edwards for dinner!  It was a pretty night and no doubt my favorite place to watch a sunset in Rosemary is from the Pescado rooftop!!

SATURDAY

Saturday morning my Mom went and picked up donuts for everyone from Charlie’s donut truck in Alys Beach.  We all chowed down with those for a bit and then went for a bike ride to meet up with some friends of ours in Seacrest.  It was a pretty day and we all decided that it would be fun to head to the beach for awhile.  It was a warmer day but still pretty windy.  We were bundled up but the kids still had a blast playing in the sand!

Saturday night we had a babysitter again and met our friends at Pescado again for sunset and then had dinner reservations at Surfing Deer in the Grayton Beach area.   Check out that bacon appetizer my Mom is holding! haha.

SUNDAY

Sunday is always a sad day because it means early check out! You have to be checked out by 10 which is so sad.  So we headed to our favorite spot for one last breakfast.  We went to Big Bad Breakfast and sat outside.  It was beautiful.  The prettiest day all weekend and we were sad to leave.  But we headed back to our place to pack up and got on the road back home!

It was a great trip as usual and we were sad to leave!! It was still a pretty time of year to visit 30A even though it was a little too cold for hanging out in your swimsuit on the beach.
