A Week in Rosemary Beach | June 2020

At the beginning of June, we spent a week in Rosemary Beach with friends and family.   We rented the Boardwalk Cottage and Carriage house from Rosemary Cottage Rental and loved it!  The house is big and great, but it is currently in a construction zone.  The listing does state that, but please know, it is directly next to construction and it is loud and makes parking a big pain.  So, I would recommend that you keep an eye on that project.  It should finish up soon.  It actually may be finished now that it has taken me almost 3 months to get this post published!  The location of this is awesome though and would definitely be one I would rent again.

A few days before we were leaving for our trip, Tropical Storm Cristobal was in the Gulf and headed somewhere in our direction.   We saw it was probably going closer to LA/TX but it still meant we had a good bit of rain in our future.  So, the first few days of our trip were a little on the gloomy side and even though it didn’t rain near as much as we thought; the beaches were closed due to the rough seas and big storm surge.  We were super thankful to have a big house with a pool that the kids thought was just as fun as anything else!

So for the first few days, we did a lot of pool time, biking and eating popsicles and watermelon outside! Here’s a look at our week and it is SUPER heavy on pictures, so you’ve been warned! I had planned to be way more organized for this post and give plenty of details, but I have now let so much time go by!  I will try to chime in on a few photos below.  You can read all about my favorite Rosemary recommendations in this travel guide post too.

We loved the house so much!! The set up was great and it was big, open and spacious!!!  The kids had this great space up on the 3rd floor with beds and their on sofa and TV area plus a bathroom.

This is what the beach looked like for the first couple days of our trip which was such a bummer.  Thankfully it didn’t actually rain as much as we thought it would so we could still swim in the pool and bike even though the Gulf was too rough for us to be on the beach.  Look how high the tide got in the photo below.

Due to COVID, you can see how the restaurants took over the street a bit and added more outdoor tables which was nice.

We had an adult day one day and went to George’s at Alys Beach for lunch and then had drinks at the Pearl Hotel and then watched the sunset and had dinner at Pescado.  It was such a fun day and night!

We had a cool fireplace in our backyard and roasted s’mores with the kids one night!  They loved it.

The kids biked with my SIL and Brother to Alys Beach one day and had smoothies and played on the playground down there.

I think it was about day 3 when the tide finally went out and they were able to start putting chairs and umbrellas out on the beach.

We took family photos one night while we were there.  Its always a lot of work, but they turned out great.  We used Desiree Gardner Photography for the second year and she does a great job.

The last few days of our trip, our sitter picked up Molly and they spent a couple days at our condo in Destin.  They were so cute and had some fun one on one time!

Adult night out with drinks by the fire afterwards 🙂

We used the 30A Signature Catering service again one night while we were there which was fun and really nice.  They have a bunch of different menus to choose from and they will come in and set up with all the food and serve everyone dinner.  The presentation is always really nice and we have had great food!

On one of our last days we walked down to Crabby Steves which is a little beach restaurant that several of you have told me about and that we needed to go check out.  It was a cute little outdoor beach restaurant.  The flys were a bit bad the day we were there but we all enjoyed our casual beach food!

Cute cousins chilling before we have to leave!

We were sad to leave but happy we had another fun trip to Rosemary in the books!
