Our Weekend in Rosemary Beach | April 2024

Hello friends! We are back from a super quick weekend in Rosemary Beach with Matt’s family.  We booked this weekend a bit on a whim, Matt and I’s 12th Anniversary is next weekend, and it seemed like a fun time to escape and enjoy a pretty weekend at the beach.  We ended up booking a much bigger house than we needed for just our family of five, so we decided to invite Matt’s family along for the weekend away and all piled in!

The weather could not have been nicer, April is such a beautiful month on 30A.  It is also a wonderful time with less crowds than March (hello Spring breakers) and before they are slammed for Summer.  This is one of the quickest weekends we have done down there with just a two night stay.  We typically do three nights and that is really the minimal I like to stay.  With just two nights, you really only get one full day down there and it makes for a lot of work for a short amount of time.

Anyway, we had a great time and I always leave there wishing for more.  Here is quick recap of our weekend.  I will say that I did a terrible job taking photos this trip.  I barely took any (in comparison to my usual!).

We arrived Friday afternoon around 3pm and the house was not quite ready yet, so we found a parking spot and the first thing the kids asked to do was to go walk around the town and go to the book store! I couldn’t believe it.  They didn’t have to twist my arm.  It is one of my very favorite, quaint little stores.

We quickly got the call that the house was ready and the kids were excited to go check it out and explore the place.  Although we have been down to Rosemary Beach many times, we rent a different place every time we come and they have so much fun seeing what they are going to look like each time.

This one had a fun loft above the kitchen with a spiral stair case and up in the loft was a queen size bed that you can see below plus a couple of stairs that went up to these two cute little single beds that you see the girls in! They were in heaven.  They thought that was the best part until they walked a little further to see the bathroom and then saw this time little attic space that had floor pillows, bean bags, low ceilings and a TV for them to have their own little hang out.  It was amazing.

By the time we were all settled, we decided it was too late to try to hit the beach or pool scene; so we hung out a bit (and Matt and I grabbed a couple of delicious Mojitos from our favorite Pearl bar!) and then decided to go put our names on the waiting list at La Crema while we waited for the rest of the family to arrive.  They weren’t arriving to later in the evening, so we had dinner as a family at La Crema complete with chocolate fondue!  Can you tell Molly loved it??

Saturday morning was gorgeous and we woke up early for a quick trip to Charlies Donuts in Rosemary and brought the whole family back some breakfast.  The kids love their donuts and it was an easy walk from the house.  Since Saturday was our only full day, I planned to be at the beach ALL DAY LONG.

We packed up our beach stuff and made our way out there by 10am.  It was beautiful with the perfect temperature!  Unfortunately the water was still freezing IMO and it was really not the beautiful water we are used to.  It was all stirred up from a rain storm they had earlier in the week and was looking pretty brown.

The kids played in the sand, went on a walk looking for sea shells and enjoyed time with their cousins!  I got to read my book which I absolutely have not wanted to put down! It is called Listen for the Lie and I am loving it. I hope to finish it tonight.

We came up from the beach to grab our favorite beach lunch, shrimp quesadillas from Cowgirl Kitchen.  Trust me when I say they are the absolute BEST!   We brought them back to the house to eat and then some of the family just stayed and chilled at house and some went back to the beach.

We cleaned up well and ventured to Cuvee 30A for dinner Saturday night.  That was probably asking a little too much with two kids under two with us.  The food was great but we learned there was no kids menu.  So plan on your kid eating a steak for dinner 🙂

Sunday morning we woke up and the kids were begging for Matts pancakes.  So we all just enjoyed a slow morning of coffee and pancakes with one last visit together before we had to check out of the house at 11am.  Like I said, it was a quick trip but it is always one of my favorite places to be.  I loved this time of year and can’t wait to get back for another weekend soon!
